Okay, I have to admit it … My handy dandy Thesaurus introduced me to the word ‘brobdingnagian’ but I kind of like it so I’m sticking with it! And it is rather fitting considering the size of Brandon & let’s not forget about his vocal cords … woweee! If you can imagine a WWF wrestler singing soprano at an opera house, Brandon would be it! That baby could sing … and he sure was consistent with his notes! Needless to say, photographing Brandon taught me a lot about patience & gave me a huge appreciation for parenthood but when he settled in, he was a little angel. Every frame felt like an ‘aweee’. I certainly wish we had more time to photograph him but Jessy and I had to scoot to the airport to fly home. With that said, I would like to say a huge … oooops, I meant to say, a brobdingnagian thanks to Jessy for assisting me with this shoot! Hope you enjoy the teaser!

I first met Greg on the football field of our high school … there were a number of us that were relentless on polishing our hacky-sac skills & by our graduating year, we were all pros. But after graduating, most of us went our own way and it wasn’t until Facebook did we catch up again. I learned that Greg was now married to a beautiful gal, Erica, and they were expecting their first child, Jasper. When I discovered how active they were, we had to have the maternity session outdoors. Not to mention that they originally met while ski patrolling at a local mountain … so an outdoor maternity session was perfect! I am sworn to secrecy as to the location of the photo shoot but all I can say is that the drive was worth it!

Derek Morgan … where to begin? If I were a betting woman, I would bet that one of the items on Derek’s bucket list is to be a famous actor known around the world for his abilities to act in diverse roles similar to the acting abilities of Robin Williams. And there is no doubt that he is on his way. Aside from these aspirations, Derek will always have you in stitches when you are in his presence. His wit and natural charm draws everyone in and you can’t help but think, what a guy! So what better place to take his head shots than at a ranch near High River. Thanks to the Jeffers family, we were able to sneak out to the ranch on a Sunday to take some great shots. And many thanks to Christine who was an amazing ‘Creative Director’! 

I was extremely fortunate to be able to fly down to Houston to photograph Jeannette before she gave birth to a 10lb 14 ounce baby boy, Brandon! It was shocking as to how big Jeannette’s belly truly was but equally remarkable as to how she carried it. I think I would be wheeling around in a scooter yet Jeannette had no qualms in walking around and snapping pictures. The park we went to is actually a restaurant that also caters to weddings and while we were there, they had a ceremony that was beautiful. Peacocks even walked around like they owned the place. It was hard to believe we were in a big city!

YYC4Haiti was born through social media & it has spread like wild fire! I am fascinated with how quickly it has fused our community to donate what we can for the relief aid in Haiti. Needless to say, I was very honored to be asked to donate a photography lifestyle session for this event. When choosing a photo for displaying the silent auction item, I wanted to pick something that represented the event at hand & to show the appreciation I have for those that stepped up to the plate and created something unimaginable. It truly shows you that one person CAN make a difference. If you are able, come on down to Flames Central on Thursday night. I believe it starts at 5:30pm and there are tonnes of amazing donations to bid on for an amazing cause. Hope to see you there!

Darlene Kelsey is the owner of dk Envy Salon in Calgary, Alberta. She requested a photo session to get some fresh photos up on her website. It was a brilliantly cold day yet Darlene was such a trooper! It was a short but sweet photo shoot because of the ferocious wind but she rocked it! 

The Vilt family was the most ebullient family I have met thus far! Let me just say that I couldn’t stop laughing from the moment I met Clay. He’s enthusiastic about everything and you wish you could just have a fraction of his humor and energy because if you did, you could conquer the world! The love he has for his children is admirable. He speaks so highly of Noelle and Nicholas and has embraced their differences. What an amazing family! And now, for the pictures … 

Camille + Molly-Jane were absolute dolls to photograph. Although it was a tad chilly, we started outside and Camille ran around in the front yard uninhibited which made my job so much easier to capture her true personality. Eventually we moved into their beautiful house and Melynda made us feel right at home. I hope to be able to continue capturing the growth of these girls throughout the years as they have such spirit and energy that just makes you smile! I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I did taking them!
